Birdhouses and feeders FPP "House #4" Etsy pattern

 Hi, paper piecing friend!

 I have released another bird house in my new backyard series: Bird House #4 , featuring a bluebird!

You may be familiar with my National Park patterns or my many Bird blocks… well right now I am releasing a full scene of backyard birdhouses and feeders through the year.  All of them include Winter versions as well! See?

Here are this month’s 3 fun facts…

1. My first FPP design that I prepared for someone else to be able to sew--(in other words, wrote as a pattern!)-- was the adorable House from the movie, “Up,” complete with balloons on strings. Recently, I finished my block with free-hand quilted clouds you see in my close-up.

2. My favorite fabric artist is Heather Ross. Here is one piece of fabric illustration by Heather, which I have up on my bulletin board in my studio. It inspires me to be a fabric illustrator one day soon. Fun fact is that this nostalgic fabric image of the bunny under a blanket fort is pinned right below a beloved photograph of my brothers and cousins and me, playing in the shade on a blanket at my childhood camp.

3. I like to show how nice one of my sections looks. This is a part of my mountain bluebird pattern. My patterns are full color, are very clean and concise without any extra lettering or numbering or symbols in the way, and I make anything as clear as I can—such as underlining 6’s and 9’s. All my thoughtfulness is so that when we’re sewing it, we don’t have to think too hard and just enjoy the sewing! Plus I also like to prove how much value is in an intuitively hand-made pattern design (i.e. not computer-generated with a program like EQ, etc)

FPP Bird Houses and Feeders series: Feeder#3!

 Hi, paper piecing friend!    I have released another bird feeder in my new backyard series: Bird Feeder #3 , featuring two chickadees! You may be familiar with my Bird blocks, or my National Park patterns… right now I am releasing a full backyard birdhouses and feeders scene through the year.  It all includes Winter versions as well! See? Here are this month’s 3 fun facts….. 1 . Sometimes, people who make my landscapes will ask me how they might go about quilting on these patterns. Here in the pics are a couple ways I described what I think of when I am quilting on my landscapes. The pink lines and the yellow lines are just showing where I notice the main elements of the picture and at the very least, I  will stitch along or near those elements. After those, if I want to add more quilting based on the size, or just based on my preference for quilting, I would just highlight any other elements like detail in the water or rock. 2 . Bird Houses and Feeders FPP series: more upper blocks!

Hi, paper piecing friend! After releasing all the bird houses and feeders patterns, I have been working on completing the scene, and have released the upper blocks of the scene. ( I have a file, upon request, that shows the complete houses and feeders  options for a whole backyard scene.)  This month I will be starting some of the outer tree borders next... If you're following the plan of the backyard scene, these are: "Left Tree Leaves," "Upper Branch 1 & 2," "Flying Bird," and "Upper Right Branch." Here they are (along the top) within all the feeders and critters that are now finished! And psst, I recently made a couple of bundles which save money when downloading several of the upper and lower blocks for the scene.
